Standard 4.Understand how knowledge and skills related to consumer and resources management affect the well-being of individuals, families, and society
  Level IV (Grade 9-12)
   1. Understands the economics of the family household (e.g., income, expenditures, savings) and the role of the family in the economic system
   2. Understands how to budget personal income
   3. Knows methods used to conserve, preserve, and recycle resources
   4. Understands the need for personal and family financial planning
   5. Knows techniques (e.g., prioritizing, planning, saving, delegation, evaluation, time allocation) used to manage individual and family resources (e.g., food, clothing, shelter, health care, recreation, transportation)
   6. Knows the types, sources, advantages, and disadvantages of using credit
   7. Understands the relationship of the environment to family and consumer resources (e.g., individual and family responsibilities in relation to environmental trends and issues affecting families and future generations)
   8. Knows consumer rights and responsibilities, ways in which consumers may exercise their rights and responsibilities, and skills used in seeking information regarding consumer rights (e.g., effective complaint procedures)
   9. Understands how purchasing decisions relate to wants, needs, goals, values, and standards
   10. Understands ways in which technology can impact the quality of life for individuals and families
   11. Understands cultural, economic, and societal influences on consumer choices (e.g., types and methods of advertising, laws and regulations)
   12. Knows criteria used to assess the value of goods and services (e.g., workmanship, construction techniques, reliability, durability, product information)
